    WCFTS 2008 Pacific Northwest Tour
    Date: 08/06/2008

BREA, CALIF - Bob Lanphere’s Beaverton Honda and Bob Lanphere’s RMC of Renton, WA, presents the 5th Annual West Coast Flat Track Series Pacific Northwest Tour. Round #4 of the Series will make its first appearance at Willamette Speedway, Lebanon, OR. Friday, August 22, on the banked 1/3 mile clay oval. Willamette Speedway known for its high speeds will generate close handle bar to handlebar action as the racers maneuver on the banking. After completion the series moves to Cottage Grove Speedway, Cottage Grove, OR Saturday, August 23, for Round #5. "Cottage Grove Speedway is actually one of the favorite of the riders with its smooth fast surface and banked turns. The 1/4 mile oval is known for fast and furious sprint car racing but this Saturday night it will host the two wheeled gladiators that have no roll cages, no safety belts, minus two wheels and loaded with enthusiasm." Romero said. "We always look forward to Cottage Grove Speedway and excited that we have the opportunity to race there, it will be fun."

The Tour will feature the West Coast Flat Track Series’ signature classes, including the run-what-ya-brung Open Class, the Saddlemen Open Vintage Class, the Top Gun 450 Class and the ever-popular Classic Vintage 4-Stroke Twin Class. Also Included in the program will be the 250 Invitational Challenge, Showcasing the future stars of Dirt Track (12–15 years of age).

The West Coast Flat Track Series was derived from the “World Of Outlaws” sprint cars racing format with adjustments to fit professional motorcycle racing. This version of flat track racing has been a success with rolling re-starts, time trials and such that a fan can follow and understand the nights racing. The end result is an exciting action packed fast paced program that starts on time and ends on time that the racers and fans alike come to enjoy and expect.

"It has been a great ride these past ten years, but we are really just getting started," Romero said. "With each year, this series has become more competitive, more valuable as a promotional tool to expose up-and-coming talent, and a great arena for established flat track veterans who want to base their racing closer to home. The racing action in this series is phenomenal. We have racers coming from Washington, Oregon to compete not to mention the top riders of California."

Romero said that the goal of the motorcycle series is to provide the best racing "bang for the buck" to be found anywhere.

"We have spent ten years establishing the West Coast Flat Track Series as a fantastic entertainment value to the paying spectator, and we feel that we have also kept our promise to grow the sport of flat track motorcycle racing," Romero said. "Next to the AMA Grand National Series, I feel that we are the second strongest flat track racing series in the country right now, but we are never going to quit trying to improve on what we have."
